The Logo Design Process: What goes into creating a custom logo
Your logo is essentially your brand’s smile and handshake to the world, and it’s worth taking the time to curate. On the face of it, logo design is as simple as drawing a swoosh, an apple or picking a well placed and inviting font. Some logos are technically harder to achieve than others, but all well crafted logos come with a great deal of research and development to back them up. Creating a great logo is all about distilling your brand down to it’s essence and capturing it in a vibrant mark.
Our Process:
The core of the logo design process is research and development. We ask questions like: What kind of company are you? What are your core values? Who is your target audience? and What sets you apart from your competitors? The answers to these questions help create a narrative to inform the selection of colors, shapes, images and fonts that will make up your logo.
Once a basic narrative is established, creative brainstorming begins! Doodles and discussion drive the creative process. We play around with ideas and images until the abstract elements cement into concrete logo ideas. We pick the best of the best of these ideas to pitch as potential logos.
Picking a final concept from the pool of potential logos is a collaboration between the designer and client. Ideas can be combined, adjusted and reworked to fully capture the essence of the brand. Once a final concept is chosen, there are several rounds of edits focused on refining and perfecting the finished logo.
From there, it’s all about the deliverables- making sure that your perfect logo is perfectly usable in all of it’s size, color and file formats.
Your logo is essentially your brand’s smile and handshake to the world, and it’s worth taking the time to curate.
